Flea Market Haul…

Flea Market Haul… after the break…

Flea Market Haul…

No introduction this week. No “Stuff that I bought” or “Stuff that I passed on” or anything like that.

For this week, I helped out setting up a stall at the flea market. It involved waking up extra early (“extra early” is defined as anything before 6 AM on a Sunday) and then waiting at the flea market in order to receive a patch of space. Setting up meant setting up tables, unpacking boxes, arranging and rearranging merchandise, putting price tags on a lot of items. I wasn’t selling anything; Just helping out on the set-up and breakdown of the stall.

There’s an old saying that goes, “Everyone loves eating a hot dog but, if you were ever told anyone how they were made, they would never eat another one ever again.”

The same mostly holds true with the flea market.

It involved a lot of waiting. It involved more then a bit of working.

And when I got to walk around the flea market as a customer… Well, let’s just say that the disadvantage of a holiday weekend is that people tend to not want to be vendors during a holiday weekend. The amount of vendors was rather slight. Not “first weekend” or “last weekend of the flea market” slight but, clearly, nowhere near at full capacity. It may as well be diplomatically put that this weekend was for “dedicated shoppers and vendors only.”

So, no… No purchases this week. The vendor where I cleaned up last week was there but… Well, when you clean up and the vendor doesn’t resupply… All that’s left is a lot of stuff that you don’t want. I was pleasantly amused that a lot of the vendor’s non-military titles that I didn’t purchase were eventually sold. Also, it was with great amusement that the vendor’s big box Sims 1 was still there. Ha!

Next week, barring rain or some other cataclysm, will be better. People will be back from vacation. They will be stoked to sell again. Deals will be available. And I’ll be waiting… Without having to wake up at some God-forsaken hour beforehand.
