crappy circuit city…

crappy circuit city all after the break…

crappy circuit city…

so, from what i understand, r.i.p. circuit city. yeah, yeah, they aren’t technically going under but, for all practical purposes, they are. after all, circuit city is just a crappier version of best buy anyway, not like best buy is a saint but… well, you know…

look, i tried to help out circuit city over the years. honest. however, they missed out on some big opportunities. if my memory serves me well…

  • sam and max: season one – i was going to buy this from circuit city but because the cashier was busy with what looked like two homeless people in front of me for what felt like nine hours, i didn’t. this actually worked out fairly well, as the game was cheaper at best buy, anyway.
  • hd-dvd player – yeah, i know that hd-dvd “lost” but hd-dvd players play regular dvds & is also an upconverter for them, as well. when hd-dvd gave up the ghost, i was “thisclose” to buying an hd-dvd player from circuit city as they were one of the last stores to have the deluxe model (i think it was the a3 but i can’t be certain). unfortunately, too many red-shirt idiots were all standing around, talking to each other. no sale. oh well. honorable mention: sears. geez, can’t stores hire competent sales personnel anymore?
  • software prices in general – holy crap. circuit city prices were always too high to begin with. hello? $59.99 for dark messiah? still? $29.99 for doom 3?! still?!? i know that pc gaming gets no love anymore from anyone ’cause all the “k00l kidz” play the consoles but… well, no love for pc gaming means no love from me.

i’m going to miss circuit city. well, not really. i never bought much from them, truth be told.
