fonstruct & the whizzball report all after the break…

note – there’s a reason why you should read the “leaving comments” page before leaving a comment.

i like open source stuff because its free. let’s face it – unless it’s a game, it costs some serious money. a copy of windows vista ain’t cheap, a copy of microsoft office ain’t cheap… drawing programs (i’m talking the professional ones, not the ones that make ms paint look like something from the year 2308), music editors… none of it is cheap.

of all the free open source stuff, though, i’ll never understand why there hasn’t been more open source utilities. sure, openoffice is big but why hasn’t there ever been an open source font editor? no, i’m not talking about the ones that only work for some obscure flavor of linux; i’m talking about ones that can work with windows. you know, stuff like that.

fontstruct is an online (read: browser-based) program that lets you create simple fonts without spending years in a typography class. i’m half-interested in checking it out but i hope its not so limited that all you can do is just blocky versions of the alphabet.

that’s all i’ve got to say about that.

the whizzball report…

start = 312. end = 309. net gain = +2.
