i’ll admit it – i have a hard time thinking like a “minority.” i just can’t. for some reason, i can’t get into the head of your typical “minority” demographic & understand why they do some of the things they do.
yeah, i know that the word “minority” is considered by some to be derogatory. well, what can i say? that’s life.
so, anyway, take the homosexuals for example. now, you’d think that a minority like homosexuals would steer absolutely clear of the republican party. after all, the republican party is a breeding ground for irrational social conservatives bent on transforming the 21st century back into the 17th century. social conservatives & homosexuals simply do not share much in common except that they (a). live on the same planet & (b). are of the same species. however, there are some homosexuals who actually vote “republican.” they’re called “log cabin republicans.” it’s true.
therefore, i guess it shouldn’t be hard to surmise that some women are thinking of voting for the mccain-palin ticket because – shocker! – palin is a woman.
i just can’t fathom what attracts women to the republican party in the first place. social conservatives have no regards towards a woman’s reproductive rights… at all. in their minds, roe v. wade shouldn’t just be overturned but placed in a safe, tied down by anchors & then thrown into deepest part of the ocean.
yeah, i know what you’re thinking – women can transcend their gender issues & decide for themselves on which party is right for them. yeah, you’re right except… well, those rights can be taken away. remember the patriot act? the one where libraries can now spy on you & the government can now spy on you & hold you without proper charges & all of that good stuff? now that’s not reversing some obscure law – that’s reversing and/or weakening fundamental rights.
how long do you think it would take a socially conservative government to toss out reproductive women’s rights? yes, it’s possible. yes, there are places in this world that treat women like absolute dirt & get away with it. after the reproductive rights are gone, do you honestly think they’d stop there? of course not.
so, i’m always curious what delusions women have when they drink the flavor-aid otherwise known as the republican party. are they doing it to advance their careers? are they doing it for the attention?
